The Malcolm Shiraz
We first made this ‘cult’ Shiraz back in 1994. It became a legendary wine and with the follow on 1995 and 1996 releases, spawned a host of ‘over the top’ powerful, rich Shiraz wines. Our goal was to push the boundaries of Shiraz, to pick ultra-ripe and then age in new oak, bottling unfined and unfiltered. Importantly the final wine, though hugely powerful, was well balanced.
The nose offers up hugely ripe fruit aromas – black cherry, cassis and plum, alongside toasty mocha oak, meat, liquorice and spice. Rich and textured with a velvety palate. It’s a rich powerful, hedonistic Barossa Shiraz of great complexity.
It’s a big wine but the tannins are super-ripe. Incredibly voluptuous and drinkable, although this is a wine obviously with years ahead of it.
We only release the Malcolm in the finest vintages.
The design on The Malcolm bottle is beautifully etched in the glass and wonderfully presented in this burn-stenciled wooden box, enabling collectors to store the wine for many years to come… if it’s possible to wait that long!
